These are signs and vinyl squares I designed for a feature spot of several products in Drybar’s product line. Using brand-provided assets, I designed signage that complies with Nordstrom’s branding guidelines for in-store promotional signage. This feature includes a large promotional sign, a plank graphic, a small product sign, a small price sign, and vinyl fixture squares.

Drybar V2 Feature Wireframe

This is where the design starts. Using a Nordstrom standard template, I laid out the pieces needed for this promotion. This wireframe is then distributed to stores along with the signs themselves so employees will know what is required. Normally signs for this feature spot have the company logo at the top, but Drybar has special arrangements to use their branded assets instead.

V1 Feature Signage

Here are the signs I laid out live in store, photographed inside Nordstrom Store 1 in downtown Seattle. This position faces the escalators, so it will be seen by everyone that goes between floors.

Large Feature Sign and Plank Graphic

This is a detail shot of the large promotional sign and the plank graphic. The photos for the signs are provided by each brand, and I created signs in InDesign. The files are then sent to brand representatives for approval, then sent to one of several local commercial printers for creation and distribution.

Since Drybar has such specific branding guidelines, I worked closely with their marketing team to create these graphics. Each Nordstrom store has white painted planks for use in this feature position.

The job of the plank graphic is to display the product name and tag line. The brands do not provide images for the plank graphics, so it was up to me to design this artwork.

7x11 Product Sign and Vinyl Squares

I designed this small product sign by taking the model photo out of the larger sign. Since this feature included multiple photos, the model shot is the best choice for this sign, rather than a product shot.

For the squares, we opted for a bright yellow rather than the soft, buttery yellow on the other signs. The brighter color made the feature spot more exciting and therefore more enticing for customers.
